Tretinoin is a retinoid derivative of vitamin A used primarily in dermatological therapy. It acts by binding to nuclear retinoic acid receptors, regulating gene expression and promoting epidermal cell turnover. Tretinoin reduces keratinocyte cohesion, enhances exfoliation, and prevents formation of comedones in acne lesions. It also stimulates collagen synthesis and improves skin texture and pigmentation changes. Tretinoin is indicated for acne vulgaris, photoaged skin, fine wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, and certain keratinization disorders.
